Links from the BBC

There’s celebration everywhere when the BBC links to your blog or site. This past weekend, I just found out that the BBC had linked to The Zambian.

On the blogosphere, it also appears that the BBC has linked to Robert Scoble. Weird how two different sites, with two different goals can share in the same feeling of honor.

Search for Zambia

Proof that search engine omptimization does work.

In the last month, I’ve been trying to optimize keywords, page titles and everything else possible to ensure that anyone who does a search for Zambia on Google will eventually end up on The Zambian.

I’ve been using Microsoft’s bCentral service which has not lived up to my expectation. Worse is the fact that MSN uses Overture (owned by Yahoo) as the primary provider for search results.

Does anyone have any other tips that I could use or search engine submission services that they recommend?

Zambia – Top 10 Tourist Destinations

Per a survey from The British 2004 Trends and Spends, Zambia has been placed on the top 10 destinations for tourists in Africa.

As the saying goes, Zambia – The Real Africa.

Zambians in the News

Has anyone ever wondered how far Zambia extends its impact?

“Edward Neville Isdell was born June 8, 1943, in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. As a 10-year-old, he moved to Lusaka, Zambia, where his father worked as a police fingerprint and ballistics expert.

Isdell, 60, who took over as Coca-Cola’s chief executive officer yesterday, said on May 4 when he was named to the top job that emerging markets such as China and India would be key to reviving sales growth. Much of the 35 years Isdell had worked at the company were spent in emerging markets such as the Philippines, South Africa and Zambia.”

World Cup 2010

It was only a matter of time before the world’s largest sporting event came to Africa.

“The game’s ruling body FIFA chose South Africa ahead of Morocco and Egypt to stage the world’s most popular single sports event for the first time on the African continent.”

Zambia has already started making plans to build three new stadiums at Lusaka, Ndola and Livingstone. Yet another positive sign of development in Zambia.
