The Mighty Mouse

Apple continues to churn out products that complement and increase the over all value of investing in the Apple platform. Today they’ve announced the launch of The Mighty Mouse that offers a new interface to the otherwise standard 2 button, 1 scroll wheel design. For a number of years Microsoft’s Hardware division has definitely provided some competition in the the mouse/ keyboard industry with it’s product set of Intellimouse Explorers and keyboards such as the Optical Desktop with Fingerprint Reader. In my opinion Apple was never regarded as a competitor because it continued to invest in the one button mouse design. However, The Mighty Mouse may prove to be the answer to the much needed Apple designed 2 button mouse that PC users frequently ask for when moving to the Macintosh bandwagon.

Phone vs. Car vs. Shelter

After my recent car break in episode I’ve been going back and forth between deciding to invest in a car or look into the real estate market. However, Motorola just made this decision a bit harder with the introduction of the MotoQ. Time to scrap out the previous shopping list and rearrange the needs and wants.

Dell Inspiron 1150 experiences slow performance after installing XP SP2

I assisted a client today who was experiencing very sluggish system performance on her Dell Inspiron 1150 after installing Windows XP SP2. After a quick Google/ Dell Forum search it appears that there are multiple people experiencing the same problem. Below are the steps I took to resolve the problem:

- Upgraded BIOS from A04 to A06 by running the BIOS update provided on the Dell Support Site

- Ran Dell’s QuickSet utility to configure the Power Settings for the laptop to be ‘always on’.

- Checked Windows Power Settings to confirm that the power scheme selected was set to something other than Portable/ Laptop

- Reset BIOS settings by pressing Alt + F

Some other recommendations:

- Roll back the processor driver that restores the processor.sys driver over the intelppm.sys installed by XP SP2.

Dell Axim X30

I just bought a Dell Axim and am slowly scavenging the web for tools and utilities that will help me exploit the handheld.

Does anyone know of or have a list of ‘Pocket PC Applications You Can’t Live Without’ list, similar to the other lists that Scott Mitchell has been posting on his blog?
