Paddington Station Lansdowne

Paddington Station is now open!

Indeed, downtown Lansdowne now has a new antiques store. They still don’t have a website setup (perhaps I’ll drop them a line and offer my services) but in the mean time call (484) 461-7770 for store hours, or e-mail the store owners at paddingtonstation@rcn.com for more information, or stop by the store at 12 S. Lansdowne Ave. Lansdowne PA.

Mansfield Brass Quintet

The Mansfield Brass Quintet will be playing its annual evening of traditional holiday music on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Consisting of two trumpets, a trombone, a tuba, and a French horn, the group begins caroling at the corner of Mansfield and Madison Roads, proceeds down Madison, continues up Walsh to the Manor’s Christmas tree and finally down Mansfield to Madison ending its tour of the Gladstone Manor in the cul-de-sac at the intersection of East and West Windermere Terraces. The group stops to play under the Gladstone Manor’s historic street lights and at the Gladstone Manor Holiday tree. This year, as last, the Mansfield Brass will be joined by carolers.

Lansdowne Classic Town

Lansdowne is now considered a Classic Town. According to the Classic Towns site, Classic Towns of Greater Philadelphia is an initiative of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) designed to foster the growth of the region’s older communities by promoting what makes each community a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Here are the current list Classic Towns:

Sycamore Menu Teasuer

Yesterday, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Mission Burrito in Lansdowne, PA. Great food and music, including an owner who actively posts specials and announcements on Twitter. Today, I stumbled across the menu for Sycamore. Got to love more food choices in down town Lansdowne.

Sycamore BYOB in Lansdowne

A new restaurant is coming to Lansdowne. Per the website, the restaurant will be called Sycamore and appears to be a perfect addition to the Lansdowne main street at 14 S. Lansdowne Avenue.

Sycamore will offer artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, soups, salads, and creative appetizers and main dishes with a local, seasonal emphasis.

We’re a BYO, but that won’t stop us from creating some of the best and freshest mixers around. We encourage you to walk in with any kind of liquor (Whiskey, Gin, Tequila, Vodka, Bourbon, etc) and find innovative and classic cocktail mixers featuring fresh squeezed fruit juices, and lovely accoutrement.

Speaking of Lansdowne, have you tried out Cinema 16:9 yet?

Cinema 16:9

If you’ve driven by Lansdowne recently you may have noticed new green awnings show up near the Lansdowne Theater. On the right hand side of the theater is the new location for the Regency Cafe. On the left hand side is a place called Cinema 16:9.

You have to read a post titled ‘One Month Later‘ by David Titus, entrepreneur behind the Cinema 16:9 location, to see the passion that’s gone into bringing a unique movie experience to Lansdowne. If the Cinema 16:9 blogs are any sign of good things, Lansdowne residents have a lot to look forward to in the next few months.

I wonder if George Dougherty, who runs Javaflix in West Philadelphia, would consider running something similar at Cinema 16:9.
