WordPress 2.0.1 Release

I updated my blog to the new WordPress 2.0.1 Release which included fixes to more than 114 bugs. WOW. My move to WordPress earlier this month is still in progress as I’ve had to retag and categorize most of my posts. Furthermore, WordPress handles images and file uploads slightly differently than Blogger, so most of my posts with images did not transfer over as smoothly as the others. Nevertheless, other than these minor issues I’m glad that I decided to make the switch to WordPress.

Bloglines

One of my colleagues asked me what news aggregator I used and if I saved time by subscribing to specific RSS feeds. I wish there was a feature in Bloglines that would help answer the question because I’ve lost track of the number of hours I’ve saved as a result of using Bloglines. Furthermore, the ability to save and search through previous subscriptions constantly helps me find things that I would have lost in the traditional browser.

From the Ask.com description, Bloglines is a free online service that helps you subscribe to and manage lots of web information, such as news feeds, weblogs and audio. Bloglines tracks the information youre interested in, retrieves new stuff as it happens, and organizes everything for you on your own personal web news page.

If you’re looking for a news aggregator I would definitely recommend Bloglines, although My Yahoo!, MSN’s Start, Newsgator, FeedDemon, Google Personal and RSS Bandit are just some of the various programs or services that can help with RSS feed subscription and reading.

Technorati Tags

I followed Alex Barnett’s blog post on technorati tags to try and create a tag on .

According to Technorati, a tag can be considered as a category name, so based on this definition I should have the first category or tag on Zambia.

Alex has been using Camtasia Studio to setup his screen casts which definitely looks like something our documentation should be modeled on.

My Blogging Degree

If you haven’t already heard, an employee at Friendster, was recently fired as a result of some of her blog posts [1] [2]. However, at the same time, a post from Michael Gartenberg clarifies how a single event may not necessarily be the cause for a termination.

Over the last month, I have been trying to decide on how much and what kind of information I should be revealing through my blog, especially information regarding the various processes that I interact with at my work environment.

I think it’s hard to stay away from a topic if you are truly passionate about it but at the same time without a definite corporate blogging policy can you follow the rule ‘No one told me that I couldn’t'?
