Bible in a Year

I’m going to try and read more of the Bible as part of the plan to integrate this habit as part of a non-negotiable discipline. There are various methods to reading the Bible in a year:

• Chronological (Read the Bible based on chronological occurrence of events)
• Historical (Read the Bible in the order the books were written)
• Synchronous (Read the Old Testament and New Testament together)
• Start to Finish (Read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation)
• Variety (Read the Bible with no specific order)

I intend to follow the variety approach offered by Crosswalk’s Bible in a Year plan.

God’s Telephone Number

I was helping out at a shelter earlier this morning and learnt God’s number – 333. Michael, who was the person I last expected to learn this from, conveyed so much in my hour long conversation with him, that I struggle to find words to explain all that I left with. Anyways, in Jeremiah 33 verse 3 the Lord says ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know’.

Newsboys

I’ve always enjoyed Newsboys. When I first came to the US, this was probably one of the groups that introduced me to a whole new league of Christian music.

At the Creation East Festival of 2001, the group had one of the most spectacular stage performances, with laser lights, dirt bikes and pure worship music.

Earlier this evening, while listening to MSN Radio, I heard the song ‘You are my King’ from the Adoration album and just had to share the words.

Shenandoah Getaway

I just returned from a getaway trip to Shenandoah and must say that I have returned truly spiritually blessed.

Things I learnt on the trip:

- Remember to remember the answered prayers
- Remember the reason for having and being able to share with Christians
- Remember reason, memory, faith even when spiraling downward

Things I wish I could have done on the trip:

Rafting down the Shenandoah river. Thought it’s only a grade 2, I imagine the scenic beauty would have been truly worth it. On the whole, I would definitely recommend the Angler, Drifter or Paddler cabins. They come fully equipped with all the luxuries of life (AC, comfortable beds) but don’t have the distractions of email and media.
